To borrow a phrase from the Chronicles of Narnia, there seems to be a “deep magic” that allows for us to experience miracles.
By now, we know this “deep magic” is not that complicated to comprehend – at least in concept. The deep magic that precipitates miracles is simply an enabling power, or grace.
We receive grace as we give grace. As we pull others up (though service, kindness, love), we ourselves are pulled higher and higher by the Heavens. In short, we go from one level of grace to the next level of grace (the process), via grace for grace (the mechanism).
It is interesting to note in the scriptures (Luke 4:23-27) that when Jesus was in his hometown of Nazareth, they asked him to do that which was done in Capernaum.
Jesus gave an interesting response as to why He had not performed the same miracles as were wrought in other places.
He simply stated that they were not yet like two people:
(1) The widow of Zarephath who fed Elijah the prophet during the three year and six month famine
(2) Naaman the leper who was head of the Syrian guard
In the next two sections we will explore in greater detail the “deep magic” involved in the miracles wrought in the lives of the widow of Zarephath and Naaman the leper.
If we can identify the active ingredient in their lives, we will be able to adopt and apply the same active ingredient in our own lives.
